About Brian
Assistant Principal
Templestowe Park Primary School
As I enter my 20th year of working in primary schools in Victoria, I am excited about having an opportunity to communicate with the Templestowe Park community (and those who may well join our school community in the future) online. In my first year of teaching in 1996 which was a grade 5 / 6, I remember the whole class being elated when we learnt that our school was receiving computers for student use. A short time later, my grade excitedly received its one personal computer which was proudly set up in the corner of our classroom. I now find myself working at a time and in a school where several hundred notebooks and iPads are used daily to support student learning. Using technology to 'bridge the gap' between the home and school is something I enjoy being a key part of.
This is my 10th year at TPPS, my 6th as Assistant Principal. There is no doubt, the best part of our school is our students. That is not to downplay our teachers, high quality learning programs, facilities or parents, it's just that with a positive, energetic and friendly student body the day to day operation of our school runs smoothly and efficiently.
Away from TPPS, I am the proud father of two beautiful boys. My eldest son has just commenced his first year of primary school so I now have the pleasure of being a school parent which has allowed me to have a deeper understanding of what it is like being a part of a school community as a parent. Like my boys and my wife, we are all enthusiastic sport followers with AFL football being our first choice.
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog, any comments and feedback are truly welcome.
Regards,
Brian
